Jianwei (John) Miao Elected a 2025 Fellow of Materials Research Society (MRS)

Congratulations to UCLA physicist Jianwei (John) Miao on being elected a 2025 Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS)!
Professor Miao—a faculty member in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the UCLA College of Letters and Science and a member of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA—was honored for his groundbreaking work in materials characterization, which has advanced coherent diffractive imaging for a wide range of material systems and improved atomic electron tomography techniques to determine the three-dimensional atomic structure of crystal defects and amorphous materials.
The Materials Research Society recognizes Fellows for their exceptional contributions to materials research, highlighting individuals who exemplify excellence in science and engineering and who advance the Society’s mission to drive innovation in materials science for the benefit of technology and society.
