The goal of this free STEM career conference is to give scientists in the LA-wide area the opportunity to meet, seek advice, and to network with experienced professionals working outside of academia. The conference also aims to connect individuals from different fields, schools, and backgrounds to foster collaboration.

Breakfast and check-in 9 – 10 AM
Keynote speakers 10 – 10:45 AM
Our keynote speakers will introduce the day and share with attendees their career path, experiences, any adversities they overcame and advice they would like to share.
Panel Discussion 11 – 12 PM
The panel will consist of 5 individuals from different fields and levels of experience. The audience will have the opportunity to ask panel members career development-related questions. The panel will have time to respond fully and share their knowledge and experiences. The discussions will not be field-specific but will more so focus on career development, general advice on how to be competitive applicants, and women’s issues.
Lunch 12 – 1 PM
Breakout Groups 1 – 2:30 PM
Attendees will be provided with a list of discussion topics and each table will hold discussions led by two or three professionals with expertise in that area. Attendees can choose to sit at any table with space. After a 30-minute discussion, attendees will be free to move to a different table. Topics of discussion may include, but are not limited to: transitioning from academia to industry, negotiation tactics, engineering project management, clinical research and regulatory science, data science, drug discovery and development, medical science liaison, business of science, patents and IP, tech transfer, entrepreneurship, science communication/education, and more.
Networking 2:30 – end of event
After the breakout sessions, attendees will be able to mingle and network with our speakers and other attendees. Appetizers, drinks, and coffee will be provided.
