An open-mic marathon symposium with featured speaker Linda Weintraub
Guest artist and author, Linda Weintraub’s forthcoming book: “ WHAT’S NEXT? Eco Materialism and Contemporary
Art ” provides the opportunity for professors from multiple academic disciplines to share their predictions of the
theory, practice, insight, re-evaluation, or revision that will emerge in their discipline in the coming years… What’s
next in chemistry? Ornithology? Biotech? Nano systems? Poetry? Design? And more…
Come whenever you can. Stay as long as you wish.
Linda Weintraub is is a curator, educator, artist, and author of several popular books about contemporary art. She has
earned her reputation by making the outposts of vanguard art accessible to broad audiences. The current vanguard,
she believes, is propelled by environmental consciousness that is not only the defining characteristic of contemporary
manufacturing, architecture, science, ethics, politics, and philosophy, it is delineating contemporary art.
Days before this symposium, Weintraub will be hosting a series of workshops that examine the phenomenon of ‘very
hot’ and ‘very cold’ that have coexisted on planet Earth since time immemorial. Temperature extremes account for the
diversity of life forms that have evolved on Earth. However, global temperature now threatens many of these life forms.
This is because humanity’s escalating consumption of fuel for energy combustion is affecting climate conditions
globally.
