What is the Longitude Prize?
The Longitude Prize is an international challenge prize competition that will ultimately select one point-of-care diagnostic product to receive a grand payout of £8 million. There are currently 83 teams competing for the Prize from 14 countries with a broad mix of entries from industry and academia. The winner will have proven that their test can significantly reduce misuse or overuse of antibiotics by creating an affordable, accurate and rapid point-of-care (POC) diagnostic test. This test must be practical to use in low and middle income countries (LMICs) as well as in countries such as the US and UK. The £8 million prize fund is being funded by Innovate UK (UK government institution) and Nesta, London.
Longitude Prize Lecture
Nesta invites all local LA institutions, researchers and companies that are actively working on point-of-care diagnostic tests to impact antibiotic resistance to this lecture, followed by Q&A and a reception.
