“Precision Metabolomics: Functional Insight into Host: Microbiome interactions”
The structure of the commensal microbiome is dynamic, with inputs into (and responsiveness to) the development of diseases of diverse aetiology (e.g. diabetes, autism). Small molecules (biochemicals) are one vector linking the gut microbiome and distal organs: a deeper understanding of how metabolites broker the host: microbe interaction necessitates precise bioanalytical measurement and a platform for interpreting complex metabolomic data. This presentation will describe Metabolon’s precision metabolomics approach, which provides a valuable tool for the analysis of microbial inputs into global metabolism. In addition, several case studies will be used as a platform to discuss how this technology can be used to advance research into the microbiome and understanding of impacts on development of disease.
