The UCLA California NanoSystems Institute Celebrates…
On October 9th, we celebrate all things nano! What is nanotechnology? How does it improve our daily lives?
This annual celebration featuring a series of educational hands-on demonstrations throughout campus aims to help raise awareness of nanotechnology, how it is currently used in products that enrich our daily lives, and the challenges and opportunities it holds for the future. This date, 10/9, pays homage to the nanometer scale, 10–9 meters.
From 11am – 2pm, there will be a specific demonstration in each of the following locations: Sculpture Garden (ferrofluids – levitating liquids), Dickson Plaza South (plasmonics & scattering – ancient art from gold), Janss Terrace (biopolymers – from boba to biology), and the Inverted Fountain (superhydrophobic surfaces – wash like a plant).
Not only will you learn about nanotechnology, but we’ll have nano prizes, science stickers, and more! Complete all 4 stations for entry to a grand prize raffle.
