UCLA research teams hastening progress in areas from cancer treatment to clean energy have received a philanthropic boost from the Noble Family Innovation Fund. Created through a three-year, $10 million commitment to the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA, the Noble Fund supports basic and translational investigations into phenomena occurring on the nanoscale — that is, billionths of a meter. A primary focus is on projects with the potential to launch knowledge-driven commercial enterprises and benefit society. During this in person seminar series, UCLA faculty members will offer brief presentations on the work they are engaged in as part of the Noble Fund, and how these efforts are impacting research for the greater good, from research to advance computing, human health and environmental sustainability. Each project presentation will be 20-25 minutes, followed by discussion. The talks will strive to: Introduce the state of the field Highlight key preliminary data Provide an overview of the research Identify potential opportunities for additional collaboration
