Introducing the SoCal Semiconductor Manufacturing Education Network
UCLA is proud to partner with the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME) as part of NNME Southwest, a new regional hub connecting education, industry, and workforce partners across the Southwest.
Through the SoCal Semiconductor Manufacturing Education Network (SoCal SME Network), UCLA is helping expand access to industry-aligned semiconductor manufacturing education and hands-on cleanroom training for community college students and continuing education learners across Southern California.
Led by the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA, the SoCal SME Network builds on UCLA’s established semiconductor workforce programs and expertise at the UCLA Nanofabrication Laboratory (UCLA NanoLab). Students gain practical experience in semiconductor fabrication, cleanroom safety, lithography, metrology, deposition, etching, and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
The network brings together universities, community colleges, industry, and workforce partners to create stronger pathways from the classroom to careers in Southern California’s thriving semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem.
Together, we are preparing the next generation of semiconductor talent through accessible education, hands-on training, and meaningful connections to industry.
