CNSI Members Among World’s Most Influential Researchers in 2025

By Nicole Wilkins

In a reflection of the California NanoSystems Institute’s role in advancing world-class, interdisciplinary science, 11 CNSI members are among the 39 UCLA scholars named to Clarivate’s 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list – a distinction reserved for only one out of every thousand researchers worldwide.

The annual list, compiled by international data and analytics firm Clarivate, recognizes scholars whose published work ranks in the top 1% of global citations over the past 11 years. These citation metrics serve as an indicator of broad, lasting influence within and across fields and underscore UCLA’s strength as a hub for transformative, high-impact research.

“We celebrate the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 for advancing innovation and inspiring the global research community to tackle society’s greatest challenges with creativity and ingenuity,” said Bar Veinstein, president of academia and government at Clarivate.

This year, 6,868 researchers from more than 1,300 institutions in 60 countries and regions earned the distinction, representing just 0.1% of the global scientific community.
