Program Overview
Offered by the California NanoSystems Institute and the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, the Semiconductor Microelectronics Training Program equips students and professionals with in-demand skills through focused, hands-on training. Delivered in four-hour Friday sessions throughout the academic year, the program addresses current industry needs—especially in the semiconductor sector—while supporting workforce development across California. Open to community college, university, post-baccalaureate students, and working professionals.
Learn about the UCLA NanoLab
The UCLA Nanofabrication Laboratory (NanoLab) provides open-access to advanced research infrastructure for fabrication and characterization of nanoscale materials, systems and devices. With over 20,000 square feet of class 10, 100 and 1000 cleanroom space, the NanoLab integrates modern semiconductor tools, processes and analysis using substrates ranging in size from small pieces to 150mm wafers with emerging classes of biomedically relevant materials and devices. By providing access to a professional staff with deep knowledge of fabrication techniques and process development, the UCLA NanoLab enables a broad range of academic and industrial R&D projects.

Q: How will the course be assessed?
A: Course portion- assess students with an Instructor assessment (ongoing assessment in class using Socratic teaching). This will be supplemented with a short oral exam.
Lab portion- written tests and instructor observation. This will be supplemented with work projects according to the time spent in the lab.
